REACH Programme: Paving the Path to Recovery
$3 Billion in Road Rehabilitation Efforts
In addition to the SPARK programme, the Jamaican government has launched the REACH (Relief Emergency Assistance and Community Help) programme. This initiative focuses on providing immediate and sustained relief to communities affected by Hurricane Beryl. The REACH programme aims to restore utilities, distribute essential supplies like food and water, and support housing and economic recovery efforts.
A significant part of the programme involves a Road Rehabilitation phase, which is currently being implemented by the government to repair the extensive road damage caused by the hurricane’s passage. By addressing urgent needs and facilitating long-term recovery, REACH complements the infrastructure improvements of the SPARK programme, ensuring a holistic approach to national development and resilience.
REACH Road Rehab component of the Programme, is a comprehensive national road rehabilitation initiative valued at $3 billion. Under the programme, each of the 63 constituencies will see funds allocated to conduct essential road repairs and maintenance, ensuring that all regions of the country benefit equitably.
Public Accountability and Transparency
The REACH Road Rehabilitation Programme is committed to upholding public accountability and transparency by providing stakeholders with clear and accessible updates on our progress.
Our gallery showcases photos and updates of ongoing and completed road repairs, offering a visual record of the work being done. A detailed directory of participating contractors is available, ensuring transparency in the selection and involvement of our partners.
We invite the public to play an active role by verifying and reporting on the completion of roadworks in their areas, fostering a collaborative approach to accountability. Additionally, a comprehensive list of roads scheduled for repair is provided, keeping communities informed about the programme’s priorities and timelines.
